by searching for people from your city

agree to add you as a “friend.” The longer you’re on the site, the easier it gets.
2CREATE A PAGE
Profiles are personal and Pages
are for business—keep the two
separate. After you are familiar with the “rules of the road” on
Facebook, you’re ready for the next
step. At the very bottom of your profile,
click “Business” and then see “Business
Solutions.” Click on “Facebook Pages”
and read the information before proceeding to “Create a Facebook Page.”
Important: Do not click on “local”
unless you only want people from your
town to know about you.
Create a Page for each of your topics.
If Business Productivity is one topic for
you, put that somewhere in the title of
the Page. Simply using your name as the
title will do little for people searching for
someone to help them with their productivity. Think “keyword” when creating your title.
3CREATE A WORDPRESS BLOG
No, that wasn’t a misprint; I
wrote “blog.” Blogs are quite
popular today for personal
and business reasons. Creating a blog
enables you to give routine updates,
share thoughts and concerns, and give
your clients a better feel for you and/or
your company.
On your Web site’s server, have your
Internet provider set up WordPress for
you and begin writing a blog. Create
separate installations for each topic and
keep your articles on topic. (I now have
12 separate blogs, each on a separate
topic but all on my Web site’s server.)
Select a blog title that clearly defines
your topic and use keywords in it like
“Business Productivity: Sally James
Shares Her Secrets for Success.” You
want people and search engines to find
you, so think about how people will
search for you when you select your
title. Also, don’t forget to embed video
and audio snippets, and eye-pleasing
graphics to captivate readers and give
your materials edge.
4ADD AN RSS READER
Find an RSS reader that will
allow your blogs to be “
aggregated” (listed directly) on
your Facebook Page. In the search
window at the upper left side of your
profile, input “RSS Reader” and click
search. When several RSS readers pop
up, click “Simply RSS” on the list and
“Add to Page.”
After following instructions and
adding a reader to each of your Pages,
you’ll want to input the “feed” of the
blog that corresponds to the topic of
