that Page. It will look something like
this: www.your-website.com/your-blog’s-address/feed. WordPress usually makes the URL of the feed very
simple. When you have that set up,
the titles and summaries of your blog
articles will appear magically on your
Facebook Page. Now, visitors can read
your Facebook Page and your blog at
the same place.
5PROMOTE YOUR PAGE
Your profile, page, blog and RSS
are ready to go. Now what?
Start off by sending emails to
your friends and clients about your
Facebook Page, asking them to be your
“friend.” Unlike profiles that are hidden behind the passwword protection,
Pages can be seen outside of Facebook.
This means they will be searchable
through Google and your friends who
are not yet Facebook members will see
them, in addition to current Facebook
members. Now comes the fun part.
›› Send out mass messages to groups
of friends or clients you create. Choose
words carefully and always avoid
aggressive or “sales-y” language.
blogs and/or corresponding survey questions.

NSA Meetings Blogs
NSA will have a blog page for every meeting,
enabling members to blog before, during
or after meetings. In fact, five NSA members
blogged about their experiences at the 2008
Annual Convention in New York. Read their

›› Notify contacts when and where
you’ll be speaking with event notices.
›› Include a link to your main Web
site from your Pages.
›› Take notice of upcoming birthdays (usually shown on the right side
of your profile) and send short birthday wishes. After all, we all love to be
remembered on our birthdays!
›› Create Social Ads and market
directly to people within Facebook.
Think Google Ad Words on steroids:
You use actual demographics to select
those who see your ad, not simply
keywords. The result is extremely
powerful, targeted marketing.
›› Update your status daily.
Notifications will appear on your friends’
mini-feed informing them what you’re
up to. Get creative and tell them what
you’re working on or give a domain
name instead of a one-word description like “working hard” or “happy.”
›› Open a Twitter account and use
the Twitter application in Facebook to
update both applications at the same
time. You wouldn’t believe how many
people “follow” other people. Who
knows? One might just be the next
person to hire you.
›› Upload a two-minute or less
video to You Tube.com and then
upload it to your Facebook account
using the video application. Send
out a reminder for friends to check
it out, and take time to respond to
any comments they might leave.
›› Keep your blog updated and
be sure to have the RSS reader on
your Page.
Is There
More?
You betcha. This is only
the beginning. You need to
learn and practice proper
social Web site etiquette,
such as keeping your jargon in line with the softer,
more social type found
on Facebook. If you start
shouting, no one will listen.
You also can prove your
authority in your industry and build credibility by
solving problems wherever
you can, and referring people to products or services
that aren’t always your
own. You’ll establish a reputation for being a straight
shooter, and someone with
whom people want to do
to business.
