Grants Available
NSA’s grant program assists members
who cannot afford the full cost of
professional development and continuing education by attending NSA’s
educational meetings. Ten registration grants are available for the 2012
NSA Convention. Applicants must be
a member of NSA for a minimum of
one year as of the date of application.

Ethics Ruling
Based on its recent investigation, the
NSA Ethics Committee has voted
to send a letter of censure to NSA
members Orvel Ray Wilson, CSP,
and David Newman based on viola-
tions of Article 2-Professionalism.
This Article specifically states that the
NSA member shall act, operate his
business, and speak in a most profes-
sional and ethical manner so as not to
offend nor bring discredit to oneself,
the speaking profession or one’s fellow
NSA members. This letter does not pro-
hibit either party from presenting at or
appearing in any NSA chapter programs
or publications.
So You STILL Think
You Can Speak?
A crowd favorite at the 2011 NSA
Convention in Anaheim, this competition returns as a main-stage attraction
at the 2012 NSA Convention in
Indianapolis. Each chapter may submit
one candidate, from which five finalists will be selected to participate. Two
participants will catapult into the final
round with a chance to win the “Rising
Star” crown, which will be awarded
that evening. Candidates must be
members in good standing of a local
NSA chapter, with no more than five
years of professional speaking experience. If interested, please submit
an email video via a private You Tube
link to your chapter by May 1, 2012.
