DO be consistent. Set up a design
style—fonts, colors, alignment, and other
elements—and carry it through your whole
DO create a sense of order. Use rules,
grids, and alignment to give your design a

DO think about hierarchy. Use scale,
placement, and color to help readers
understand what’s most important. When
everything is the same size, it can be hard

fonts, like a serif and a non-serif.
DON’T be afraid of white space. You
don’t have to fill every square inch of a page.
