A pivot point is an event or moment around which change happens. Sometimes these moments are driven by cir- cumstances that arise from our lives and businesses.
Other times they are strategic decisions where we decide to
adjust course or methods. It just becomes time to pivot.
Successful people and associations recognize these moments,
and they make a move to adjust sooner, rather than later. We
change course with intention and purpose, rather than by simply responding to a challenge or opportunity. Sometimes these
pivots are bold and daring. More often, though, they are more
subtle, calculated corrections that build upon our strengths.
That’s the key, I think.
Look at the pivots in your life and business as opportunities to create leverage. What is your greatest value and contribution? Gain
maximum advantage from what you do extraordinarily well or have already
accomplished. A pivot point can be a powerful fulcrum to gain additional
benefit from our unique assets.
At NSA, we have phenomenal strengths. We already possess the most
desired attributes of any professional association:
¢ A powerful legacy of passionate leaders.
¢ A unique culture that fosters open exchange.
¢ Engaged, talented members who contribute content, energy, and vision.
¢ A dedicated, talented professional sta;, led by a CEO who understands
culture, strategy, and accountability.
The pivot we are engaged in to transform, educate, engage, and elevate will
leverage our uniqueness and strengths to powerful e;ect. It is an exciting time
to be part of NSA.
How about you? Will your next pivot point be intentional or reactive? Will
it be attempted because you are chasing the latest trend, or will you choose the
moment and the move strategically, harnessing your most valuable personal
assets and greatest professional strengths?
This issue of Speaker provides key insights to help you identify and execute
your next critical pivot. Wish you had better luck with back-of-the-room sales?

revenue stream? Read “Crowdfunding Your Content” on page 32. Or maybe you
